with the option to join us for a morning foraging walk
Come and join a local food celebration in our quaint old Community Hall. It will be an evening meal, but early enough if you would like to bring your children. The meal will include locally grown and foraged ingredients as well as some from not far away. We have another wonderful menu for you, created by Leone and the Seeds-to-Feeds helpers, including:
Harvest vegetable flans;
Spicy millet and vegetable stew;
Our signature foraged salad;
Homemade preserves;
Quinoa and rhubarb crunch;
Pumpkin bread pudding;
Kawakawa tea
Non-alcoholic beverages infused with elderberries, elderflowers and lemons.
All food will be vegan and gluten free. No nuts intentionally added. Please sign up soon so that we have a good idea of numbers leading up to the event. You also have the option of buying a meal for someone in the community.
Bookings are koha based, $20 for an adult and $10 for a child will cover the meal, any extra you give will cover the meal for someone else. Either way we would love to have you join us, if you would like to donate some time, or help out with the event rather than give monetary koha, please let us know.
Be sure, you will get a fabulous meal and can spend an evening with friendly people! The money raised will go towards a community project, and will be held in trust by the Houghton Valley Progressive Association.
We can't wait to share beautiful kai from our ngāhere and local mārakai with you!

Come and help the Haewai/Houghton Valley Seeds-to-Feeds team forage wild provender for their Harvest dinner in the evening. Learn about what edible wild natives and weeds are available late summer on our stunning (and spray-free) headland.
You need to be reasonably fit for the steep tracks. Bring sturdy shoes, hat, sunglasses, sun cream, water and something to carry your goodies in.
